The Provincial Government of Eastern Samar disbursed a total of PhP6,447,000 for the yearly allowance of registered Tanods, Barangay Health Workers (BHW), and Day Care Workers according to the Provincial Treasurer’s Office.

The above amount is broken down into the following: Php1,363,500.00 for Tanods, Php 4,045,500.00 for BHWs, and Php1,038,000.00 for Day Care Workers.

A total of 3,404 Tanods, 2,697 BHWs, and 632 Day Care Workers have already received in full their yearly allowances. Both BHWs and Tanods received Php 1,500.00 each while Daycare Workers received Php 2,000.00.

“The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) will conduct training for Day Care Workers to help them teach children while they adapt to the health protocols under the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, BHWs and Tanods who did their duties during the ECQ in the province and have not yet received their allowances will be included in the re-payroll.” said Josefina Paligutan, head of the PSWDO.

The distribution of yearly allowance, which was conducted in the entire month of June and was concluded first week of July, is an initiative of Governor Ben P. Evardone to extend assistance to local front-liners in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
