Governor Nicart on Tuesday ordered the immediate dismantling of “kubols” following the seizure of drug paraphernalia and other gadgets inside the Prov’l Jail after a surprise visit, Nov. 26, conducted by Gov. Nicart in coordination with ESPPO headed by PD Romeo Campomanes.
Nicart received reports that these kubols were used by some detainees for illegal activities. He also ordered the removal of stores managed by detainees.
The Prov’l jail warden, Mr. Eric Batula was relieved from his post to pave the way for an impartial investigation. Replacing Batula in a simple turnover ceremony, Monday, was Asst. Prov’l Jail Warden Sammy Afable.
The surprise inspection was prompted by complaints to the Governor about the proliferation of illegal drugs inside the provincial jail.
