BORONGAN CITY โ€“ The Provincial Government of Eastern Samar, under its Provincial Emergency Assistance Program (PEAP), has started the distribution of the P2,000.00 financial aid to validated household-beneficiaries.

Based on the report submitted by the Provincial Social Welfare Development Office (PSWDO), an estimated 33,000 household-beneficiaries from 594 barangays in the entire province will be able to benefit from the cash aid amounting to at least P65,000,000.00 allocated by Gov. Ben Evardone for the said program.

Household-beneficiaries from the Municipality of Mercedes were first to receive the P2,000.00 financial assistance in July. Cash aid distribution was also conducted thereafter in the Municipality of Oras, Hernani, Giporlos, Quinapondan, Sulat and Borongan City.

In the cash aid distribution in Borongan, Caridad Salvador from Brgy. Balud cited the importance of the provincial financial assistance stressing that โ€œGuidadakui nga pakabulig ha amon pamilya labi na ha akon kay usahay nagkukulang it akon puhunan hit akon medisina nga maintenance.โ€

Under the Provincial Emergency Assistance Program, members of 4Ps, Social Amelioration Program (SAP) beneficiaries, and TUPAD beneficiaries are no longer eligible to receive the financial aid from the provincial government.

Gov. Evardone appealed for understanding over the delay in the distribution of the financial aid emphasizing that the validation of household-beneficiaries from all municipalities and the lone city in the province has to undergo a rigorous process in order to ensure that no duplication will happen during the distribution.

Further, Governor Evardone already instructed all concerned offices in the provincial government involved in the implementation of PEAP to expedite the validation process of qualified household-beneficiaries in order to facilitate the distribution in the remaining municipalities.

This financial aid came about as Governor Ben Evardoneโ€™s response to the strong clamor from families who did not qualify in the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of the national government.
