BORONGAN CITY – The Provincial Government of Eastern Samar, under the Bayanihan grant for provinces, has procured modern equipment worth P51 million for its hospitals to further strengthen its efforts in combatting the coronavirus outbreak.
The Eastern Samar Provincial Hospital (ESPH) received the bulk of the equipment which include two (2) units of ventilators, two (2) units of defibrillator machines, two (2) units of cautery machines, six (6) units of x-ray machines, five (5) units of cardiac monitors, ten (10) units of ECG machines, 200 units of mechanical beds with bedside tables, 410 sets of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), 100 units of oxygen regulators and 95 boxes with 50 pieces per box of disposable surgical masks.
The provincial government has also allocated funds for the construction of six (6) x-ray rooms, conversion of existing wards to COVID-19 wards in the district hospitals of Oras, Arteche, Taft, Balangiga, Gen. Macarthur and Guiuan, installation of 50 units of ceiling fans. In addition, ten (10) units of heavy-duty air coolers and 10 sets of air-conditioning units were also procured.
“With these new equipment(s), we could diagnose more accurately the disease of the patients which in turn will result to the proper management of the patients” said Dr. Jessica Sabalberino, Officer-In-Charge of the ESPH.
Sabalberino underscored that the procurement of these equipment is just the beginning of the series of improvement plans that Gov. Ben Evardone has initiated for the largest hospital in the province. Governor Evardone plans to upgrade ESPH from a Level II hospital to Level III or a medical center so that it will become the hospital of choice for the people in Eastern Samar, Sabalbarino added.
“We at ESPH and the rest of the district hospitals in the province are thankful and grateful for the support of Governor Evardone for the health sector” said Sabalberino.
Sabalberino revealed further that one of the major plans of Governor Evardone is to build a four-storey hospital building, worth P300 million, fully equipped with modern medical facilities to better provide quality healthcare system in the province.
The modern facility will be built within the hospital complex and is slated to be constructed before the year ends.
